As part of its efforts to support the Government of Chad in ensuring a peaceful, inclusive and democratic transition, International IDEA Chad's programme, funded by the European Union, initiated a BRIDGE workshop (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections) training. We were supporting in the areas of mediation, facilitation and national reconciliation from 26 to 29 September 2023.

The participants included staff of the Ministry of National Reconciliation and Social Cohesion and its partners, including the Ministry of Territorial Administration, the offices of the President of the Transition and the Prime Minister of the Transition, the General Secretariat of the Government, the National Transition Council, the Ministry of Planning, and traditional and religious leaders.

The workshop was officially launched by the Minister for National Reconciliation and Social Cohesion, Abderahmane Koulamallah, who in his opening remarks thanked International IDEA for being such an important partner for his Ministry. "The workshop is of crucial importance, as it will enable the staff of the Ministry and its partners to reach a common understanding of the national reconciliation process in the current Chadian context and get a better grasp of the challenges and issues involved in the quest for social cohesion”.

Abdoul Wahab Ba, International IDEA Chad's Programme Manager, in his welcome remarks emphasized the “importance of this workshop which in addition to providing knowledge and methodological tools to approach national reconciliation and social cohesion, and also represents an opportunity for exchanging ideas and pooling energies to consolidate and perpetuate peace and consensus-building initiatives for peace in Chad and reconcile the country with itself”.

A total of 38 participants, including 13 women, will have their capacities strengthened over four days in mediation, facilitation and national reconciliation matters.
