International IDEA is contributing to the third Summit through its role as a Platform for Engagement with Civil Society, as an organizer of Summit activities, and as co-coordinator of the Global Democracy Coalition and the Partners for Democracy Day.

The human rights situation continues to deteriorate as the number of political prisoners grows and any dissenting voice is met with violence from the country’s security forces.
