El secretario general de IDEA Internacional, Kevin Casas-Zamora, moderará la sesión inaugural de la conferencia global "Defensa de los valores democráticos: Conmemoración del Día Internacional del Parlamentarismo" que se  celebrará del  30 de junio al 1 de julio en León, España.

Le invitamos a la conferencia "A los 50 años del golpe de estado en Uruguay" que se celebrará el 21 de junio a las 17:00 h, en la isla de Strömsborg en Estocolmo, donde se ubica la sede de IDEA Internacional.

El evento es organizado por la Embajada de Uruguay en Suecia, con la colaboración de IDEA Internacional y la Universidad de Estocolmo.

El 22 de julio, El Comercio llevará a cabo una audiencia vecinal en La Magdalena. Previo a esa fecha y con el auspicio de la empresa Enel Perú, el equipo de IDEA Internacional brindará un taller a los vecinos de Magdalena con el fin de organizar sus preocupaciones y necesidades, y así poder aprovechar de mejor manera la jornada que tendrán con el alcalde Francis Allison.

International IDEA held an online panel discussion on the latest Global State of Democracy (GSoD) Indices findings on the six countries in the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia) on 10 February 2023.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen their strategic partnership in strengthening regional capacities for democratic governance, effective electoral processes, political participation, mediation and conflict prevention in IGAD's Member States.

Litigating election disputes is contentious, complex, and excessively technical. The technicality of electoral dispute litigation is fueled by the strict requirements of the Electoral Act, coupled with judicial attitudes over the years. The complex and technical nature of election petitions is largely responsible for the failure of election tribunals and courts to address the grievances of litigants despite efforts at resolving such election disputes.

In recent years, the debate about lowering the voting age has intensified in many countries. Typically, young people around the world can head to the polls between 16 and 18 years of age, although some nations like Singapore and Taiwan set the age at 21 and 20, respectively.

A 10-member Bhutanese parliamentary delegation led by Chairperson Tashi Dorji of the National Council of Bhutan visited the Belgian and Danish Parliaments on a study tour between 27-31 March 2023. The tour was a unique opportunity for Bhutanese parliamentarians to broaden their understanding of the international norms and standards of mature democratic parliaments.

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) and the Netherlands announced today a six-year, 12-million-euro agreement to support International IDEA’s critical democracy work.

On 9 May 2023, International IDEA presented findings and recommendations from 'Elections in Emergencies and Crisis:  Lessons for Electoral Integrity from the Covid-19 Pandemic' at the parliamentary conference “Election in Times of Crisis” organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the Swiss Parliament.

International IDEA, together with UNDP, hosted the kick-off meeting of the joint workplan for the operationalization of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between both institutions last September 2022, in the margins of the 77^th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 77).  

The Electoral Tribunal of Panama (TE), with the support of International IDEA, held its second workshop on spokespersons and crisis management, on May 5 and 6, 2023. This time, for the people responsible for communication in the regional offices of the institution, as part of its 360º Communication strategy and preparation for the general elections of May 2024.

The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Canberra, Australia and Suva, Fiji, on Thursday, 25 May 2023 that re-establishes ties between the organisations.
