Comments:

First preference votes are counted at the polling station for both the House of Representatives ballot papers and the Senate ballot papers. Figures are phoned through to the Divisional Office (constituency level) and then entered into the computerised Election Management System (ELMS). From there, results go to the central level and are uploaded to the Virtual Tally Room on the AEC’s website. For more information, read this page.
