Date
08 November 2016
Location
Strasbourg, France

Within the framework of the Graduate ENLIGHTEN - GEM Summer School[1], the Office of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) to the European Union facilitated a satellite event, “Young People & Democracy: New Challenges of Democratic Functioning - What is at stake?”, in Brussels on 23 September 2016.

During this event, 20 young people discussed the challenges and issues affecting young people and democracy.

Participants consisted of European Masters students and “young leaders”, who emphasised that their views should be seen from the perspective that young people are not homogeneous group due to age differences, different geography settings and diverse socio-economic contexts.

Romain Digneaux, one of the participants in the event in Brussels was invited by the Council of Europe to present the outcomes and results during the Agora.

To learn more about his findings, view the report prepared by Digneaux.
