This workshop is organised by Ghent University and the Conflict Research Unit (CRU) of the Clingendael Institute. 

Experts will discuss how international policies and initiatives can take better account of the phenomenon of ‘violent democracies’. Internatioanl IDEA will lead a case study discussion on 'Political corruption, crime and conflict', looking at democratic developments and their connection to violence, as well as the role for international support, diplomacy and aid from a SDG16 perspective.
