Dominic Sowa is an Associate Programme Officer with the INTER PARES team in Brussels.

Sowa joined International IDEA in March 2022.  His responsibilities include the coordination of our flagship peer-to-peer partnerships between European Union Member States' Parliaments and Partner Parliaments in the Latin American Region.

Sowa’s experience includes working as a human rights consultant at the Regional Office for South America of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, where he coordinated the project of technical assistance to the Chilean constitutional process. Before that, he worked as a policy officer at the Australian Embassy in Chile and Ecuador, and International Programmes Officer at the Law Faculty of the University of Chile. He has broad experience in research and consultancy work on topics that include interest groups and parliamentary gender quotas.

INTER PARES, funded by the European Union and running from January 2019 to December 2022, is International IDEA’s flagship project to enhance the capacities of parliaments as a cornerstone of effective representative democracy.
