In November 2008, International IDEA visited the Philippines Democracy Assessment team in Manila, who is currently conducting a democracy assessment on the rule of law in the Philippines (2008-2009).

Listen to Dr Edna Co Estifania, University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance, who is a member of the Philippines Democracy Assessment Team. She has also been involved in the three previous democracy assessments that have been carried out in the Philippines on the following topics: social rights (2007), minimizing corruption (2007), and free and fair elections and the democratic role of political parties (2005).

The Philippines democracy assessments are a good example of how International IDEA's State of Democracy assessment framework can be customized and also be broken down to topic-targeted assessments.
