The State of Democracy Network is a community of practice that has either played a role in the development, application or both of the International IDEA State of Democracy assessment Framework. The network started through a partnership with the pioneers of the UK Democratic Audit and prototype of the SoD assessment framework-- Professors Stuart Weir and David Beetham. It then expanded as more experts from different parts of the world participated in the development of the SoD assessment framework, its pilot and its subsequent application. The network continues to grow with its continued application.
The SoD Network represents a rich resource of knowledge, lessons and experiences in developing and applying SoD in a variety of contexts. It is available to provide support to new assessments.
