State of Democracy

Giving the citizens the ability to assess their own democracy is a potent means of enlisting broad support for democratic reform. This is what the State of Democracy (SoD) assessment framework has encouraged in over 20 countries since its introduction ten years ago (2000). 

 

International IDEA’s State of Democracy assessment methodology is intended for the use by citizens to assess the quality of their democracy, and define priority areas for policy and democratic reform. Read more
