Description:
3-year project on states in transition to democracy, focusing on 6 post-conflict countries and 4 former Soviet states. The goal of the project is threefold:

• To develop a framework to better understand the dilemma’s and opportunities in a transition to democracy
• To test this framework in different local contexts (Central Asia, South-East Asia, Horn of Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America with control groups France and North America).
• To disseminate the outcomes of this research to a wide network of students in university and public sector employees. The lessons learnt will be developed into a university course manual and an online training course for the respective target groups.
