Our agency’s purpose is to be a not-for-profit social enterprise which serves the development of mediation and associated disciplines by maintaining in Northern Ireland a centre of excellence in:

• The development of mediative practices.
• The provision of training in mediative skills.
• The facilitation of learning about conflict, division and the promotion of peace.

The intention of mediation is to effect positive change in situations of conflict, contention or division. Our use of Mediation has two civic tasks:

• Assisting people – individual citizens, groups and communities – to resolve disputes or manage wider conflict: RESOLVING CONFLICT.
  
• Assisting people to build good relations – between individuals, groups, communities or sectors of society: BUILDING GOOD RELATIONS.
