Current projects
Title: Education for Peace
Project description:
This programme was created to promote and develop EP values and attitudes among people both inside and outside the university community. In accordance with the objective of education against conformism and for critical and transformational awareness, emphasis is placed on the need to educate in and for conflict. A positive outlook on conflict is regained so that strategies and skills are created to enable people to face conflict by non-violent means. Training workshops for young people, educators, council personnel, etc. are provided to this end. The EP Programme staff members also work on community mediation initiatives and participate in the production of educational materias for various organisations. The Programme has also coordinated the campus subject Education for Peace at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) since 2002.

Title: Peace Processes
Project description:
The programme monitors current armed conflicts and non-armed conflicts that have yet to be resolved, in order to analyse exploratory talks or formal peace negotiations, and perform a comparative analysis of the components of all these processes. This monitoring is the basis for the chapters on peace processes in the publications Barómetro (quarterly) and Alerta! (yearly), and for the production of the Peace Processes Yearbook. The Programme also seeks to highlight some contexts and some occasions where a specific contribution seems to be fit. This emphasis is embodied in the Colombia Programme and the organisation of international seminars. The programme is run by Vicenç Fisas, director of the School. Because of its cross-cutting structure, most of the School’s programmes are also involved.
