International IDEA has been commissioned by the European Commission (EC) to conduct a study on strategies and methodologies for EC action in support to parliaments.
International IDEA’s research, which involves three experts, has explored approximately 50 EC projects, both past and ongoing, and included two research trips, one to South Africa and another to Senegal.
Based on the study, International IDEA will develop a practical guide on parliamentary support for EC officials and others. The practical guide will include tools and mechanisms for assessing, analysing, setting up, monitoring and evaluating projects and programmes in support of parliaments. IDEA will also develop a training module for EC staff and others. The study, practical guide and training module will all be completed by early 2010.
