The ACE Electoral Knowledge Network has significantly added to its global geographic focus. Nine Regional Electoral Resource Centres, strategically located around the world, were officially launched at an ACE workshop hosted by International IDEA at its Stockholm headquarters in July 2007. This regional expansion will improve the quality and the usefulness of the materials and features available in ACE.
The ACE Regional Electoral Resource Centres are all electoral institutions or other organizations active in the field of democracy promotion, and can be found in:

Contracted by International IDEA and funded by the European Commission and the UN Democracy Fund, the resource centres are the regional knowledge hubs of ACE. Not only do they strive to build and inspire electoral expertise in their own regions, but they also incorporate their respective regional perspectives into the ACE network and enable fruitful knowledge exchange with other election practitioners and electoral assistance providers around the world. The regional centres also increase the availability of the knowledge generated within ACE by translation, dissemination and regional, context-specific application.
New regions and countries pages
The increased geographic capability of the ACE network has resulted in an improvement to the regions and countries component of the ACE website. The country pages have been re-designed in a more user-friendly format and updated with more information on recent and forthcoming elections. The country pages are also in the process of being translated into various languages, such as Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian.
The regional centre pages, dedicated to the nine regions covered by the resource centres are a new feature. These pages work as information nodes, facilitating navigation among the vast amount of country-specific information available at the site. At the regional centre pages, users will find information about upcoming events, elections and news in the region, as well as links to relevant regional actors and resources. Managed by the regional centres, these pages are constantly evolving and would be the main target for anyone interested in first hand quality information on a particular region.

The regional centres will be the focal points for input from the stakeholders in the different regions to further develop the usefulness of the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network. They welcome questions, suggestions and comments on the material in their relevant sections in ACE. To contact them, or to contribute with materials, photos or information on events and upcoming or past elections etc., please send an e-mail to ace.facilitators@idea.int.
