The second of the project’s training workshops was organised on the theme of “Media External Environment” and was held over a three day period from 26-28 February 2007. It was attended by 30 participants, five from each of the 6 participating political parties (as well as a number of members from other parties who found their way to the workshop on the second and third day). The training workshop covered the issues of the external (legislative and regulatory) environment for the Media in Sudan. It also covered issues related to freedom of the press, freedom of expression, censorship, broadcast media policies, media ownership, and existing press and publications acts and proposed reforms.
