Experience:
Sara Staino has been a consultant for the Electoral Processes Programme of International IDEA since early 2004. In this capacity, she has performed several functions: as a member of the ACE Project Management Committee, she has worked on the conceptualization and development of the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network; as a Lead Writer she has drafted the “Electoral Management” topic area of the ACE Encyclopaedia; as Project Manager, Ms Staino has participated in the “ACE Course Correction” process. Ms Staino is also co-author and editorial anchor of the upcoming IDEA handbook on “Electoral Management Design”. In parallel to her commitments with IDEA, Ms Staino has worked as a University Lecturer in Political Science at the University of Örebro, Sweden, teaching International Politics and International Election Observation and as a guest lecturer at the “American University Center for Democracy and Electoral Management” in Washington D.C., USA.  Ms Staino has participated as an international election observer in a number of electoral observation missions for the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE),  the “Centro de Asesoría y Promoción Electoral” (CAPEL) and “International Mission for Iraqi Elections” (IMIE), and regularly acts as a Deputy Chairman of a polling station commission for elections in Sweden. 

Education:
Ms Staino has an academic background in Political Science. She has studied at the University of Alicante, Spain and at the "Universidad Americana" of the city of Managua, Nicaragua. Ms Staino is a graduate of the University of Örebro, Sweden, with a major in International Relations and Electoral Participation.
