Current and Previous Positions: Lord David Steel was a journalist and broadcaster before entering Parliament. He was leader of the Liberal Party from 1976 to 1988 and co-founder of the Liberal Democratic Party in 1988. He is a former President of the Anti-Apartheid Movement of Great Britian. He is a regular broadcaster on political affairs and undertakes frequent overseas lecture tours. He is currently Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament.
