Current and Previous Positions: Mr van Gennip is currently a member of the Upper House of the Netherlands' Parliament; Chairman of the Standing Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Senate; Chairman of the Netherlands' Chapter of the Society for International Development; advisor to the Ministry of Economic Affairs for Central and Eastern Europe; Chairman of the Economic Committee of the NATO Assembly; and a board member of the Netherlands' Institute for Multiparty Democracy. He has previously served as President of the SOCIRES Foundation, Centre for Society and Responsibility; as Executive Director of the Research and Policy Institute for the Christian Democratic Party; as Deputy Director-General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; as founder and general director of CEBEMO, the Dutch co-financing agency; and as Chairman of EURONAID, a co-ordinating mechanism of European NGOs in the field of food aid and humanitarian assistance.
