Percy Medina

Head of Mission, Peru

Percy Medina is International IDEA's Head of Mission for Peru. Medina is responsible for ensuring compliance of the objectives of International IDEA in the country, as well as the political impartiality of its actions.

Medina is an expert on political parties and electoral processes. He maintains constant contact with journalists, political leaders and social activists. His opinion on public affairs is regularly required by the media.

He has broad experience in participating in international missions as an observer and as an advisor to electoral organisms and civic and local electoral observation groups. He served two terms as the Executive Secretary of the Lima Agreement for The Latin American Network of Electoral Observation Organizations.

Before joining International IDEA, Medina was the Secretary General of Transparency for Peru. In this role he led democratic training and education processes, political parties’ assistance, national electoral observation, political consensus as well as the promotion of political debates and dialogues. He has also worked as a consultant on topics related to democracy and elections for the Organization of American States, the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, the National Democratic Institute and the International Republican Institute.
